Tim Touhy

Communications Director


As VPG’s Communications Director, Tim specializes in media strategy, crisis communication, and reputation enhancement. He has received numerous awards for his leadership-in-crisis communications programs, public policy advocacy, and strategic media relations. Drawing on his experience counseling corporate executives and corporate communication leaders, Tim enjoys working closely with VPG’s partner-clients to develop tailored communication programs to support their business and organizational needs. His career includes public, private, and non-profit sector experience. Before joining VPG he served as Deputy Press Secretary for former Illinois Governor Jim Edgar and as the chief spokesperson for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, the nation’s second largest prosecutorial office. At Navistar International Corporation, Tim served as the Director of Communications and Public Affairs, prior to joining Navistar he was a vice president at the public relations firm of Hill + Knowlton Strategies in the Chicago and Washington D.C. offices.  He holds a BA from Loyola University Chicago. Tim is a board member of the Illinois Arts Council Agency, and he is a commissioner of Illinois Torture Inquiry and Relief Commission. Tim is also a co-founder of The Agency Theater Collective, a non-profit theater in Chicago.
